A few weeks ago we had the awesome opportunity to photograph local band, Double Shot. I first spoke with Robert, guitarist for Double Shot, when he called to inquire about getting some portraits of the band. They had an exciting opportunity to play in an upcoming Battle of the Bands at Foxwoods Resort Caisno next month, and wanted something that would set them apart. Their session was a lot of laughs and a lot of fun. In the end I think we got some greats photos. We also got to sit down with Double Shot and learn a little bit more about them. We wish them the best of luck in their upcoming battle!

CPS: What’s your band’s name? How did you come up with?
Double Shot feat. Heather Mineau… A Double Shot of all artists. We thought it would be cool to do two songs from each artist we perform.
CPS: How long have you been playing together?
Robert and Heather (husband and wife) have been playing together 10 years. Eddie has been with us for 6 and Gerry about 1 year and ½.
CPS: What kind of music do you play?
We play a huge variety of high intensity rock, country, alternative and top 40.
We throw in some slow stuff too! Lol
CPS: What are your upcoming shows?

CPS: Who are your musical influences?
Heather – Power House female’s Kelly Clarkson, Celine Dion, Nancy Wilson, Bette Midler..just to name a few.
Robert – Eddie Van Halen, Eric Clapton, Slash, Brian May, George Lynch, first influence my brother John…
Eddie – cousin Phil, sister Doris, brother Leon, Carl Main, Getty Lee
Gerry – Neal Peart, Phil Collins….
This is what makes the band so versatile; the influences from each member bring so many different styles and flavor to the music! Each member is a great representation of their influences! Imagine this: Pick from above a drummer, bass player, guitarist and singer. How awesome would any combination of artists be together?
CPS: What has been your biggest challenge as a band?
Getting the sound / mix right.every place we play is different and we try to sound our best at any venue we play. Although most of the band would have to agree the biggest challenge is dealing with Rob’s jokes! Like they say, there is always one in every crowd!
CPS: How can fans gain access to your music? Do you have a website?
doubleshotmusic.net has information links set up to hear our music. Some of it is also located on youtube ( search ‘Heather Mineau’) and reverbnation with more to come in the real near future.
CPS: What is your ultimate goal for the band?
This is the fun part and most exciting for us! Heather and Robert have just finished recording 6 of their original songs. The goal for the band is to get our songs heard and possibly picked up by a producer or recording company, but in the meanwhile, just enjoy playing music!
CPS: What is the history of your band (how did you meet, ect)
The common denominator is a man by the name of Dan Bretton. About 12 years ago he use to own a local music store. We all use to go for one reason or another and just seemed to hit it off. We were all doing our own thing at the time, with music and life, including other bands. Over the past 12 years we have all played together from time to time, but only in the past year, we decided to give it a go together and do what we all loved to do!
CPS: Lastly, you have mentioned playing in an upcoming battle of the bands, do you have any information you’d like to share about that?
Yes we do!! Foxwoods Resort Casino in partnership is Q105, is sponsoring a Battle of the Bands to be held every Wednesday starting June 15th 2016 in the Atrium. Double Shot has been selected to participate in the competition! We will be one of the first bands to battle that night. But really were just so excited about being chosen, it’s more like an awesome gig than a competition.
